5 Creative Uses For Juice Pulp That Will Surprise You

Juice pulp is always a tricky thing to deal with because throwing it away seems wasteful, but you can’t happily eat it as is.

And while you can compost it and that’s fine I wanted to share with you some more unique uses you might not have thought about before.

Add Extra Flavor To Pancakes

Everyone lovespancakes, and an easy way to bulk them out and make them a bit more substantial is to throw your juice pulp into the mix.

The juice pulp adds some extra texture, a sweet flavor and some extra fiber to them so that you can digest them even better.

I like to separate my pulp as I’m making it, so fruit pulp in one container and vegetable pulp in another. Because while green juice has some excellenthealth benefitsthe pulp isn’t the tastiest by itself, even in pancakes.

But fruit can be a subtle sweetness, and even carrot pulp makes for a delicious savory dish.

Turn it into juice pulp crackers.

Ever had a juice pulp cracker? They’re delicious, and an excellent crunchy use for juice pulp. I prefer it with vegetable pulp, but it can be just as lovely with fruit pulp if a little different.

Check out the recipe:

  • Mix 3 cups of pulp, 1 cup of water, ½ cup of almond/coconut flour and ¼ cup of chia seeds.
  • Spread it all out as thin as possible on abaking sheet(注意,这将是非常激烈的,试着智慧h a baking sheet and pressing that if you’re having trouble spreading it)
  • Bake at around 350F for 30 min or till brown and smell toasted.
  • Take it out and cut it before it cools otherwise it just crumbles.
  • You can add any spices you feel like to the dough at the beginning, try salt, pepper, and garlic or if you’re using fruit pulp cinnamon.

Make It Into Dog Biscuits

These can give your dog some gas, but it’s worth trying out all the same. Start with 3 cups of juice pulp, add in a cup of oats and a quarter cup of ground flax seeds. Mix in a half cup of peanut butter, and you’re ready to go.

From there you roll them into small balls and bake them in the oven for 1 hour at 300F.

Just be sure you never feed your dog the pulp fromonion, garlic or grapebecause they’re toxic to dogs and will lead to a trip to the vet!

Make Fruit Leather

Fruit leather is a great treat if you’ve got kids, and as an aside you can always give vegetable leather a go, but I don’t imagine it will go down well!

It’s straightforward if a little time consuming, you spread out all your pulp in a baking tray sandwiched between two sheets of baking paper and roll it out into a really thin sheet, make sure it’s all stuck together and bake it in the oven on the lowest heat you’ve got for 6-12 hours.

I warned you it wasn’t quick! Once it’s done you take it out and cut it into strips and roll it up ready for eating.

Freeze It For Stock

If you were making stock anyway, you could throw in whatever juice pulp you happen to have, but it can be easier to wait and save it all the freezer. Once you’ve got a couple of decent sized bags together, you can throw it straight into a pot still frozen and boil up a nice stock.

And I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you this but make sure it’s only the vegetable pulp you keep! No one wants a fruit stock for their soup.
